Occasionally, Locket invites users to join a short audio or video chat with our team so we can learn how Locket fits into their lives and how we can make the app better. If your teen is invited to a user interview, this article explains what to expect and the safety steps we take.
It's our top priority to keep these conversations safe, professional, and comfortable for your family.
1. You approve before the interview happens
For teens ages 13–17, a parent or guardian must give written approval before the interview can take place. Simply informing a parents that an interview might happen is not enough — we require a written affirmative from you.
That approval can be a short text message or email reply confirming you're okay with the interview. We still ask for this written sign-off even if you plan to be in the room during the call.
2. What the interview is (and isn't)
User interviews are casual, optional conversations about your teen's experience with Locket — what they love, what could be better, and ideas for new features. They are not sales calls, and your teen can skip any question or stop at any time.
You are welcome to join the call or stay nearby. Participation is always voluntary.
3. Two Locket teammates on every call
Every interview includes at least two Locket team members. This two-adult rule helps keep the conversation balanced and safe, and makes sure there are always multiple adults present.
4. Calls are recorded
We record every interview so there is a clear record that the conversation. Original recordings are kept for 6 months and then deleted permanently.
5. How we handle interview information
We treat interview notes carefully:
Notes are anonymized. We only keep basic details like age, gender, and U.S. state.
Raw transcripts are limited to a small group of Locket executive team members (CEO, CTO, CMO, and Head of Design) working on the research.
Other teammates only see heavily summarized, fully anonymized bullet points — never your teen's name or raw transcript.
Interview data is deleted after 6 months.
6. What you can expect from us
Before a call is scheduled, you should receive a request for parental approval. On the call, you'll see (or your teen will see) two Locket teammates, and the conversation will stay focused on Locket and product feedback.
